Jeff Bridges and his band The Abiders packed in a sold-out crowd last night at Granada Theater, with Dallas’ own Somebody’s Darling supporting the evening.
Best known from such films as Tron, Starman, The Fisher King, Crazy Heart, The Coen Bros. remake of True Grit, and of course The Big Lebowski (of which I will refrain from making any references here; we’ve heard PLENTY of those throughout the past few days!), and many more too numerous to list here, Jeff released his first album Be Here Soon in 2000, following up with his second album, the self-titled Jeff Bridges in 2011.
Named after the moniker given to the unidentified dead soldiers in the Civil War, Somebody’s Darling is an the alt-country 5 piece band from Dallas, TX. Their self-titled debut Somebody’s Darling was released in 2010, following up with Jank City Shakedown in 2012. They’ve been nominated for many local awards including “Best roots-rock/alt-country act” in 2011 by The Dallas Observer, which they won in 2012.
I guess you could say it was certainly a toe-tapping evening. “You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude.” (Arghhh, sorry… the temptation was just too great!)
